Jerry Yellin News & Tributes:
Captain Jerry Yellin wrote and traveled the country talking about the experiences that changed the course of his life. His stories about the battle of Iwo Jima and flying combat missions over Japan, including the last combat mission of WW2, were riveting. The story of how he overcame years of PTSD and how his hatred for his former enemy turned to love resonated with so many who read his books and heard him speak. The strength to tell those stories came from the love and support of his wife of 65 years, Helene Yellin. He often cited that he learned more from his 4 children and 6 grandchildren than he imparted to them. But he was being humble. Captain Jerry Yellin’s message of healing, reconciliation and peace is an inspirational story for generations to come.
